"Mark Your Territory"

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7 NKJV).

Out of nowhere we get an uninvited visit from a handsome male, well groomed and declawed cat. I discover the intruder peacefully lying on the concrete in front of our garage one evening. It is evident that he is thoroughly enjoying the nice and warm weather and if this is not enough he is acting as if this is his place of residence.

So I let our dog Davey out to see how he will handle this situation. He walks around the cat and barks a little. The cat responds with some impressive hissing and by raising his back. Unfortunately Davey is impressed, is getting nowhere and doesn’t seem to get the upper hand. I watch this scenario and I think, “Hey Davey, this is your territory and not his. Don’t you realize that you are the top dog and the cat has no right to be here? Look Davey, the cat has no claws. So nothing to worry about, okay? You can win this battle buddy boy!”

Sound too familiar? We often fight the enemy likewise, but truth be known, you and I are the top dogs of the Kingdom of God and the devil is our underdog. That’s why it is important to always position yourself under God and diligently seek to have the upper hand at all times. With the devil in mind that means zero tolerance at all times my friend.

Have a wonderfully blessed day!
